In observance of Volunteer Appreciation week April 23 - 29, several community members were recognized by Amy Perdue, Lyon County Elementary School principal and preschool director, for their extra dedication to the school and children.

"Volunteers and watch dogs take time from their busy schedules to help out when they can," Perdue said. "For this we cannot say thank you enough. But there are a few that have pledged to serve on a regular basis, and we have come to rely on."

For volunteer appreciation week, students made cards and a picture for all volunteers and were recognized in the morning assembly.

A special tribute was made to Anne Webber for 25 years of volunteering in the office at Lyon County Elementary school.

Mayor Nancy Slaton presented her with a plaque with Keys to the City for her years of service.
