Eddyville woman shot by boyfriend

Kentucky State Police troopers said an Eddyville woman was injured but alive after being shot by her boyfriend early Tuesday morning.

Troopers are currently investigating the shooting, which occurred at an E. Hall Street address in Dawson Springs. Troopers were called at about 12:30 a.m.

Investigators believe Antony Petrakis, 36, of Dawson Springs, had been in a verbal argument with his girlfriend, Holly Ruby, 35, of Eddyville. During the course of the argument, Petrakis fired a shot from a handgun striking Ruby.

Ruby was treated and released by the Caldwell County Emergency Department.

Petrakis was arrested and charged with first degree assault. He is lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing by Det. Scott Smith. KSP was assisted by the Dawson Springs Police Department and the Hopkins County Sheriff Department.
