Lyon County closed out one month and opened the next with road wins.
On March 31, the Lyons defeated Paducah Tilghman 5-3.
On April 2 in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., the Lyons beat Jeffersontown High School 12-2.
At Paducah, Tilghman utilized two walks and an error to score in the home half of the second for an early 2-0 lead. Lyon likewise used two walks to score in the top of the third, trailing 2-1.
But smart base running and sacrifice plays in the top of the fourth gave Lyon County four runs to take a 5-2 advantage.
Tilghman would score on more run in the bottom of the sixth, but would be unable to fend off the Lyons.
Bryar Riley earned the win for Lyon County on the mound. He threw three strikes across four innings.
Gabe Board, Riley, Avery Ellis, Yancy, and Cole Cannon each had hits during the outing.
Things were a bit more one-sided during the Beach Bash. Lyon trailed by two for the first two innings until Max Wadlington scored on an error in the top of the third.
With two on, Brody Bridges doubled on the next at bat, driving in Gabe Board to tie the game 2-2.
Avery Ellis broke the tie with a line drive, scoring courtesy runner Gunnar Bingham.
The Chargers escaped the inning trailing 4-2.
They wouldn't be able to get back into the contest. Lyon would add five more runs in the fifth and three in the top of the sixth for the win.
