Lyon County's Tennis team will open the regional tournament next week in Hopkinville. Coach Zach Thomas returns again this season with a talents roster ready for the postseason.
"LCHS boys and girls tennis are off and running to great seasons," Thomas said. "The boys are led by senior Jake Franke, who is signing to play college tennis at Midway University. With all other boys playing being sophomores he has taken on a leadership role and the rest of the boys have really come on strong this year.
"The girls team is led by a combo of upperclassmen in Catie Armstrong a five-year letter winner, and Elle Johnson who have both been playing for numerous years. They are both stand out kids and have worked hard to maintain what Lyon County tennis is all about. They have set a good example for our younger girls to follow in the future."
The region tounament starts May 8 with the girls first and second rounds being played.
The boys first and second round will be played the following day on May 9.
All quarterfinal, semifinal, and finals matches will be played on Wednesday, May 10.
The entirety of the tournament can be watched at the Ruff Park Tennis Complex in Hopkinsville.
